Biology - The Science of Life
It is the branch of science which deals with the study of living things. The term biology has originated from the Greek word, bios(=life) and logos(=study). Aristotle is considered as the founder of biology but the term biology was proposed by Lamarck. The term biology is often replaced by the term 'life science' or 'biological science'.
Biology is divided into two main branches - Botany and Zoology. Botany is a branch of biology which deals with the study of plants. Theophrastus is considered as the father of botany. Zoology is a branch of biology which deals with the study of animals. Aristotle is considered as the father of zoology.
