Weekly reflection - 4th week

WEEKLY REFLECTION (4.12.17 - 8.12.17)

General events of the school :-

       On tuesday there were an assembly for giving certificate for those students who got first in district level competition. In this week there was a thyroid test in our school by DDRC lab. They conducted this test in low cost. So many students and teachers tested thyroid. There test result were got on friday.

Reflection of my class :-

Day 1 - Today there were no class for the school because of the Perunal in Mount Tabor Dayara, Pathanapuram.

Day 2 - Today there was an assembly for giving certificates for those students who got first in district level competition.

         

Today i had class in 9th. I taught the topic 'Movements  plants'. I used chart,activity cards and a cartoon on tropic and nastic movement. I watched Athira teacher's class in 9D. Her topic was 'Types of meristem'. Today i conducted yoga in 8th standard. They are very happy in doing that.
          

Day 3 - Today there were a thyroid test in our school. It was conducted by DDRC Lab. Students and teachers can test thyroid in low cost.

                      

Today i conducted a remedial teaching in 9F. I explained the portion 'Excretion in other animals and plants' again. Then i gave some tricks to remember them.

Day 4 - I conducted an exam in 9th related with my project. The test was on video based lesson plans. In 8th i taught 'Pollination and reproductive parts in flowers' using videos. I shows a hibiscus flower for teaching reproductive parts in flowers. After that i used blackboard for doing activity. In 9th the topic was 'Different kind of meristems'. For that i used a cartoon, blackboard and activity cards.

Day 5 - Today was the last day of the first phase of our teaching practice. I had conducted achievement test in 9F. In 8th i taught 'Fertilisation of plants'. I used video,textbook and blackboard as my teaching aids. In 9th i taught 'Mitosis - Karyokinesis'. I used blackboard, activity cards for that.
My Experience :- From this week i started my project. For that i put a test in 9th standard. This was the end of our first phase of teaching practice.

     

INNOVATIVE LESSON SEGMENT - 3

          Today i taught the topic 'Tropic and Nastic movements' in a different way. I used a cartoon for explaining that content.

 Unit          :- The biology of movement

 Topic        :- Movements in plants

Weekly reflection - 3rd week

WEEKLY REFLECTION ( 27.11.17 - 1.12.17)

General events of the school :-

         In this week there is no such special events in the school. In thursday, there was no classes in the afternoon section because of the special meeting for the staff. Friday were holiday for all schools beacause of Nabidhinam. 

Reflection of my class :-

Day 1 - Today i didn't went to school because of severe fever.

Day 2 - Today i was very busy. I had two periods in each classes. In total i took four periods. In 8th the topic was 'Exsitu Conservation' and 'Protection of nature'. I told a story for the protection of our nature. In 9th the topic was 'Bones and movements'. I shows video and pictures for that. In the next period i put diagnostic test.

Day 3 - Today i had only one period for teaching. It was in the 9th. The topic was 'Joints and movements'. I prepared a chart for that topic. After the class i went to see Stiny teacher's class in 8 A. The topic was magnification.

Day 4 - Today there was no classes in the afternoon section because of the special meeting for the staff. I took ICT based lesson for the new chapter in 8th class.The topic was ' Reproduction'. After that a put an exam for them based on the previous chapter. In the third period i taught ' Muscular disorders and locomotion in other animals' in 9 F. I went for two peer observation. I saw the classes of Ansu teacher and Ashley teacher.Both of them are maths teachers.

Day 5 - Today there was no classes because of Nabidhinam.

My experience :- 

         In this week i was very busy with my works. I completed five models in this week. I put diagnostic test in 9th. I prepared more charts. So i feel little bit relaxed. I took classes much better than the previous week.

World Aids Day..

         World AIDS Day is held on 1 December each year and is an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV, show their support for people living with HIV and to commemorate people who have died. World AIDS Day was the first ever global health day and the first one was held in 1988.
          

INNOVATIVE LESSON SEGMENT - 2

       

          Today i told a story to my students. It's name was " Mother Nature " .  A mother and her boy child was the characters of that story.

Weekly reflection - 2nd week

WEEKLY REFLECTION (20.11.17 - 24.11.17)

General events of the school :-
           There were one assembly in this week. It is for congratulating the winners in science fair, social fair, maths fair etc and to bless them for the district level competition.
Reflection of my class :-
Day 1 - Today i was suffering from severe fever. So i had some problems while teaching. I had class on the second period in 9th. My topic was 'Ultrastructure of skeletal muscles'. I used chart,paper cuttings,videos and activity caýrds for that class. The chart contains ultrastructure of skeletal system.                    
Day 2 - Today there was an intercollegiate choir competition in our college. It was conducted by MGOCSM. So we didn't went to school today.
               

Day 3 - Today there were an assembly in our school. It is conducted for congratulating the winners in the science fair, social fair etc. Today i have classes in 9th and 8th. The topic in 9th was 'Muscle contraction and muscle fatigue' and that of 8th was 'Lost links'. I used videos, activity card,paper cuttings,pictures etc. I prepared a poem, 'For Our Nature' for this class. Me and asha teacher went to Bincy teacher's class for peer review.
Day 4 -:  I had class in the first period. The topic was ' Insitu conservation'. I used pictures, activity card etc. Today Asha teacher came for observation. In the afternoon section on the 6th period me and Asha teacher went to 6D for substitution. The students was very active. In the last period me and Neethu teacher went to 6F and we told the students to sang a song. Many students sang.
Day 5 -: Today so many students went for science fair. So i didn't take class. In the afternoon section we serve meals to the students.
         
My experience :-
         This is the second week in our teaching practice. I solved the problems which i felt in the first week. Asha teacher told some positives and negatives in my teaching. I accept that points and planned to do like that from the next week onwards. Serving meals to the students was a very special experience for me.

INNOVATIVE LESSON SEGMENT - 1

       
           Today i have to teach the students about the protection of nature. So for that i prepared a poem. The name of the poem was "FOR OUR FUTURE". Firstly i sang the poem, afterthat the students sung with me. The theme of the poem is to protect our nature for the future life.

Weekly reflection - 1st week

WEEKLY REFLECTION (13.11.17 - 17.11.17)

General events of the school :-

   In this week they conducted two assembly. The first assembly is in 14.11.17 related with children's day. Sneha from fifth standard presented a speech about children's day. After that they give prize to those students who are participated in science fair,maths fair etc. In the afternoon section there was a drawing competition.                                                                                           

                  

        

         The second assembly was on 16.11.17. It was for the distribution of cashewnut plant. Adv S Venugopal, Joseph Ramban, Agricultural officer etc came for that function. They gave cashewnut plants for the students.

                  

Reflection of my class :-

Day 1 - My first class of fourth semester teaching practice was started from the second period in 9F. The topic was 'Exercise and movements'. I used video,activity card and blackboard as teaching resources.

Day 2 - The topic on second day was 'Environment and environmental factors' in 8A. For that i used a cartoon,pictures,and blackboard. In 9th the topic was 'Types of muscles'. It was a role play.                             
                 

Day 3 - In 9F i had the 4th period and the topic was 'Liver'. I shows a video, paper cuttings for that.Then i gave activity cards. Inquiry training model was used in the 8th standard. For that i selected the topic 'Food chain'.

Day 4 - I had two classes in 8th standard. The topic were 'Ecological interactions' and 'Ecosystem'.The first topic was a concept attainment model. I used videos and pictures for the classes.

Day 5 - On friday i had third period in 9th and last period in 8th. The topic of 9th was 'Excretion in animals and plants'. In 8th the topic was 'Biodiversity'. For both classess I used videos and activity cards.

My experience :- 

        The first week was really a good experience for me. The first day had little bit adjustable problems. But now it was adjustable with me. Two days i went for peer review observations. From that i studied lot of things. I had completed nine lesson plans in this week. I was planned to become more systematic from next week onwards.

TEACHING PRACTICE - SECOND PHASE

         
   As per the part of 2016-2018 B.Ed curriculum 42 students from different options of Mount Tabor Training College went to Mount Tabor Girls High School, Pathanapuram for our fourth semester teaching practice. The teaching practice was conducted as two phases. The first phase is from 13.11.2017 to 8.12.2017 and the second phase is from 1.1.2018 to 12.1.2018. My guide was Susha P. T., one of the biology teacher in that school. I got 8A and 9F for my training. From the experience of our third semester teaching practice, we were well planned and well prepared for our training..

Reflection of my seventh week in teaching practice

14/8/17 - 18/8/17

      

            In this week, i don't have anything to teach them because i completed the portions in the previous week. So i clarify their doubts and repeated the tough portions in this week. After that i conducted diagnostic test and achievement test in the 9th class. There was an assembly on Chingam 1. On that day as a part of ' Nalapadam Project' the school gave a memento to the best farmer in Pathanapuram. After that there were an exhibition on vegetables and agricultural tools. There was a short break for our teaching practice. We will go back to the school after the Onam vaccation.

Reflection of my sixth week in teaching practice

7/8/17 - 11/8/17

           'Mount Tabor Day' was celebrated on 7th August, so we didn't classes on that day. In this week i had completed the portions of 8th and 9th classes. Me and Anu teacher went to judge the work experience of LP section. It was an unforgettable moment in my life. There were so many creative and talented students. They prepared lot of items using paper, waste materials, thread, clay etc. Actually we are very confused to judge them. On 4th August, a student of 7 H was passed away because of some health issues. We had a silent prayer for her eternal soul. So there were no classes on the afternoon section.

            On 31st July Asha teacher came to observe my class. In that day my class was based on role play model. Teacher gave me some suggestions. Some friends of mine also observed my class. They also gave some suggestions about my class. These suggestions will helps me to develop my teaching. So i accepted their suggestions and planned to do them in the next class onwards. After that, I started to observe my friend's class. It was a nice experience. I had learned so many things from their classes.

                 In this week I taught both classes with power point. Students liked that method very much. I have completed 1 lesson in both the classes. After that i put an exam for them. Some of the students got good mark but some others didn't have good mark. So i planned to give more priority to those students. I think that helps them to achieve good marks in the next exam.

                As usual the classes starts on 9.45 am. Sometimes there will be an assembly. In this week, Sojia teacher and George sir came for observation. Sojia teacher saw my class on 17th July and George sir on 18th July. They told that they liked my teaching and they gave some suggestions for improving my teaching. So I planned that, from the next day onwards I will include those points in my teaching. It was a remarkable week in my teaching practice.

                  As on the previous week, this week also had some strikes. There we got so many time to prepare our lessons. We really started our teaching from this week. We are very busy with our works. The teachers in the school was very friendly and supportive. They were so cooperative with us. That helps us to create confidence in our teaching practice. In this week no teachers came for observing our classes.

Reflection of my first week in teaching practice

                 For my teaching practice i selected Mount Tabor Girls H S, Pathanupram. They warmly welcome us. There was a morning prayer in the school after that they give a room for us. I got 8 A and 9 F for teaching. My concern teacher was Susha teacher. Firstly i went both the classes for a self introduction. From that i had understood what they expect from a teacher. That really helped in my teaching.There are 30 students in 8 A and 43 students in 9 F. The students was so active and smart. Teaching hour for me is very less. I had only 6 hours in a week. But i got some substitution periods. I started my teaching from thursday in 8 A. It was a very good experience for me. It  was my first teaching  in my life.
